Thy Kingdom Come

A few years ago the Archbishop of Canterbury started an annual prayer initiative called Thy Kingdom Come to run between Ascension day and Pentecost. The basis of this is that each of us sign up to pray each day for five people we know who are not Christians. Although it was initially an Anglican initiative its now totally ecumenical; the Methodist Church has contributed a free prayer manual for each day and there are resources for Catholics and Orthodox Christians to use. I’ll post further updates on how we can be involved but I wanted to draw your attention to the Digital Family Interactive Prayer Map  so that you can order or download to get ready.

SPARE BEDS NEEDED FOR FRIDAY NOVEMBER 22ND

For the past few years, the Methodists for World Mission Trustees have had their overnight meeting at our home, 48 DOWER ROAD, B756TX with them sleeping for the Friday night in various homes. This year due one regular host being away and a difficult for another there is likely to be a shortage. If therefore you have a spare bedroom , which someone could use for that night, please contact me on 01213082251 bosmandiana@gmail.com  The person would come/ be brought to your home between 10-10.30p.m. on the Friday and need to be back at our house for a usual 10a.m. start, but the new President may change that time. You are not required to provide any meals as they can breakfast at our home if easier for any host.They will have had dinner here around 7 p.m. and lunch on the Saturday plus obvious snacks. Just think you could help in this way please.

By hosting in this way MWM saves over £1,000, which is then used to support projects suggested by Mission Partners serving overseas, which seems a better use of funds.

Walking frames, sticks, wheelchairs and other aids are needed. We can
‘upcycle’ them to Sierra Leone as part of Deacon Marilyn’s Sabbatical Project.

Great Time of Fellowship and Worship at Nechells Harvest Festival

 

Everyone who came to the Nechells Harvest Tea and Service had a great time yesterday. The Nechells ladies (and gentleman!) put on a tremendous tea and as time passed many more friends and people from the circuit arrived. The church itself was wonderfully decorated and the service afterwards was really lively, uplifting and spirit filled: a real joy to everyone who was there. Thanks to those involved with organising it and making it such a success.
